OARS in the Water
December 8th
7:00pm-8:30pm EST
Hosts: Carol McCormick & Wally Scott
Theme: The Power of Song
Singing is communication. It is both expression and a container. It is our emotional language. It transcends differences, and creates connections. We are one in song—remember “We are the World” and “Playing for Change.” Singing changes thoughts, feelings, actions, and health. Singing touches us and moves us in so many ways. Everyone has a song, is a song—so let’s join in song.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated.
We’ll gather via Zoom. Here is the link:

OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through this turbulent time. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring.
About the Hosts for December 8th:
Carol McCormick became a professional storyteller about 40 years ago after receiving a grant from the American Association of University Women to create “Storytelling to Nurture Creativity and Self-Esteem” workshops for educators and students. Working as a classroom teacher and then a corporate trainer, she experienced the power of storytelling for discovery learning.
People remember stories and use them to guide their lives. Carol shares stories with groups of all ages in a wide variety of settings from fairs and Mall of America to daycare centers and senior residences. She is a conference keynoter and breakout session facilitator as well as an author. The focus of Carol’s storytelling is teaching and healing.

Wally Scott is a faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education at Radford University in Virginia. He has enthusiastically co-hosted OARS sessions since its inception. “We are the stories that we tell and that are told about us. As counselors, we have the honor of being an audience to our clients’ stories and as such have opportunities to co-author stories of
resilience with them.” Wally has presented principles of narrative practice for over 30 years at international, national, state and local conferences and has been telling stories for even longer.
