Storyteller, actor and coach, Kate Carney, M.A., tells stories in costume and character as historical American women – Heroic Women You Can Talk To, drawing listeners back into another time. She’s played these humorous, adventurous women from Minneapolis to Manhattan and has toured her one-woman shows internationally, performing at the International Women Playwrights Conference in Ireland and in England and France.

Kate has brought these entertaining and educational pieces to Story Festivals, First Night Celebrations, The Paul Revere House, The Old South Meeting House and Sturbridge Village, as well as other New England museums, libraries and community celebrations.

In Boston, she’s acted at New Rep Theatre, Wheelock Family Theatre, Underground Railway Theater and in numerous films and commercials. In New York, Kate acted on network TV and Off-Broadway, directed on Broadway and Off and toured nationally. She worked with Joseph Chaikin’s innovative Open Theater, with Polish director Jerzy Grotowski and trained LaMama Theatre Companies in France and Israel.

Kate created Heroic Women You Can Talk To because she believes in the power of theater and storytelling to bring history to life, and to help the audience find parallels between then and now. Heroic Women You Can Talk To is listed on the rosters of the New England State Touring Program.
