Harriotte (Pronounced “Harriet”) was Born in Ohio and raised in South Georgia. She gradually lost her sight from age 7 to 14. She tells stories in English, Hindi, German, Spanish and French. Singing is one of her passions as well as writing and cooking. She coached friends through labor and delivery for 15 babies. She climbed the Himalayas, rollerskated, attempted ice-skating, and cross country skiing. While traveling around Europe she lived, worked and studied in Germany, then went to India for seven years focusing on singing, analyzing, and performing North Indian Classical vocal music. She has taught music and culture to adults and the young in elementary school, high school, university, and privately. She is delighted to share her perceptions of the world. Ask her what it’s like to be blind or how she became blind etc. Harriotte is a mother of a biological son now living in Budapest with his family and an adopted daughter from India who now lives in Nova Scotia.
