The doors to our dwellings swing both ways. We are sometimes the host, sometimes the guest and sometimes both at the same time. So it is with telling and listening, and we will do both in this evening of stories of hospitality offered and received.

OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring.

About our Hosts for May 10th

Liz Mangual and Bob Kanegis perform and teach at schools, libraries, camps and conferences across the country. Their programs for adults explore the intersection of myth, folktale, family and culture. Among their notable collaborations are Visions’ and Voices with The United Nations Association, We Have Stories to Tell with migrant farm families, long-term projects with incarcerated youth and parenting teens, and a twelve-year award-winning oral language development residency with Santo Domingo and Cochiti schools. They encourage others to tell their stories with initiatives that include F.E.A.S.T! (Families Eating and Storytelling Together), and their Three Fold Legacy workshops. You’re most likely to cross paths with them, binoculars and magnifiers in hand, talking story, on one of their self described “Rambleyaks.” Liz currently serves as the President of the Board of The Storytellers of New Mexico.
