Madelyn Folino tells stories of strong women in her maternal line: an immigrant English storyteller, an impoverished grass widow, a dreamy artist and a headstrong nurse, all born with more grit than they knew. These original stories dip into one family’s history from 1849 to the present and celebrate life events that are surprising, shocking and sweet. Madelyn has been the Director of the Florida Public Library in Orange County, NY for twenty years and a storyteller for thirty. She is a co-founder of the Black Dirt Storytelling Guild and for Northeast Storytelling (NEST), is the Co-Chair of Sharing the Fire 2019. She is the mother of four kids raised in Pine Island’s black dirt and the grandmother of three Americans and three Canadians, all under age 5. She hopes that hearing her family stories will encourage listeners to tell their own. The Woodstock Forum is a new venue for her and she looks forward to bringing her fringe show to Ulster County.
