OARS in the Water
August 10th
7:00pm-8:30pm EDT
Hosted by Joe Doolittle and Ai-Lin Chuah
Theme: Touched by Awe and Mystery
Tonight’s session will focus on that mysterious uplifting experience of connecting with something greater than ourselves. The experience can be genuinely spiritual and can create balance and healing; looking at an infant, sharing a vista, holding the hand of a loved one, coping with grief. Ai Lin and Joe will frame the conversation with story and reflection that will carry over into break out groups and a larger group sharing. Join us.
OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. https://storynet.org/donate/
We’ll gather via Zoom. Here is the link:

About our Hosts for August 10th
Joe Doolittle is a retired healthcare executive, an accomplished storyteller, and co-producer of Story Circle at Proctors, a resident company at the theater in Schenectady, NY. He likes to tell personal stories and has a repertoire of historical tales about the Hudson and Mohawk Valleys. A graduate of Colgate University and the University of Pittsburgh, Joe is active in community affairs and is a volunteer chaplain at Albany Medical Center. The latter experience, coupled with his active role as a Deacon in his Congregation have stimulated his interest in spirituality and healing. He is also a member of the HSA Executive Committee.
Ai-Lin Chuah
Once upon a time, a data-processing geophysicist with a liking for green spaces walked into a storytelling meeting. … And 20 years passed.
Ai-Lin lives in Singapore. She has taught storytelling in classrooms, facilitated workshops for children and adults, and performed in museums, schools, at events and at storytelling festivals in Singapore. She enjoys fact-based tales as much as fantasy, and is partial to Zen and Sufi stories. She loves trees, forests and the sea. “Nature is a giant story-web. All those Connections, the way things work …. How can one not be in a state of constant Wonder?”
Ai-Lin is also a licensed Nature guide and Tourist guide, with special interests in sustainability, heritage, culture, and history. She has discovered that storytelling skills work wonders on walking tours!
