Performing together for the first time, good friends and fellow folksingers Debra Cowan and Tim Van Egmond will join their voices for a special Halloween concert. Come hear eerie ballads, songs and tales of the supernatural, at a time of the season when it’s said the boundary between this world and the world of spirits is more easily passed. There will be songs of dreadful ghosts, fearsome fairy rides, eldritch magic, and strange shapeshifters.
About Tim Van Egmond: A gifted singer, musician and storyteller, Tim is known for his captivating talent, warmth, and engaging humor. He’s been chosen for the New England States Touring Program, and has performed at notable festivals such as Old Songs, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and the New Jersey Storytelling Festival. He’s also presented workshops at various educator, librarian, and performing artist conferences. He plays mountain and hammered dulcimers, limberjack, and mouth bow. Along with his solo appearances, Tim is a member of the contra dance band Swallowtail and the folk music duo Yankee Notions.
About Debra Cowan: Following a life-long desire to sing and perform, Debra Cowan left her job as a California middle school math teacher in 1997 and went to live in Edinburgh, Scotland for six months. There she learned the art of un-accompanied singing and upon her return to the USA in 1998 began traveling all over New England performing at any open mike within 100 miles of her new home in Springfield, Massachusetts. Almost twenty years later, she is now a full-time performer who bridges the old and new with a refreshing stage presence. She has released five full-length recordings, all of which have earned praise on both sides of the Atlantic. She tours extensively in the United Kingdom and in North America and can also be seen on stage with her good friend, singer and musician John Roberts. Between travels, she makes her home near Worcester, Massachusetts with her husband and their cats, Hazel and Haku.
