York Story Slam is a monthly gathering where anyone can take a turn at the microphone and tell a TRUE story based on that month’s theme.
Our virtual slams continue! We’ll host our first story slam of the year via Zoom. The theme is FRESH START, and our host will be Philip Given.
There is no charge to register or attend. We will gratefully accept voluntary contributions via Venmo during the event, and put them toward future events. If you aren’t in a position to give, no problem – please join us anyway.
You must register in order to attend (click on Find Tickets). Once you register, we’ll send you a confirmation email that includes the link to tune in on January 19. We will begin promptly at a 7 pm that evening. You’ll click the link at the scheduled time from your laptop, tablet, or phone to join the call. You may wish to download the Zoom app if you don’t already have it, but it is not necessary to participate – if you don’t have it, the call will launch in your web browser. The app does give you access to more features, like voting for your favorite storyteller at the end of the evening.
You’ll be able to see the storytellers as they share their stories; we will not be able to see the audience members (so – shower and pants are optional!).

We’re also looking for storytellers. We want to hear your stories of starting over, second chances, and clean slates. However you interpret this month’s theme, we look forward to hearing your true stories.
If you’d like to sign up to be a storyteller, you’ll need to sign up in advance. Visit our website to register as a storyteller. Storyteller sign-ups will remain open until noon the day before the event, or until we have 8 storytellers (whichever happens first).
