OARS in the Water
February 23rd
7:00pm-8:30pm EST
Hosts: Mike Seliger and Liz Nichols
Theme: The Power of Laughter:
a tool for healing ourselves and others, and fostering social change/justice
As said by poets and storytellers, “to laugh in the face of adversity, is to recruit armies in the battle against despair. . .”
In this evening, we will experience how laughter can have health benefits even when the laughter is trained rather than spontaneous, how laughing at fools and recognizing and laughing at one’s own foolishness can help people to see the universality of human nature, and how laughter has been–and can be– used to challenge mundane ways of looking at things and building community solidarity.
OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through this turbulent time. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring.
Admission is free, although donations are appreciated. We’ll gather via Zoom. Here is the link:
