School children learn about the story mountain for analyzing and writing stories; it is a great model for adult tellers, too, and almost any written or oral story can be plotted along the mountain. Learn how to harness the power of this simple structure when writing your own stories, from personal narratives to folktales – and everything in between! Professional Storyteller and Teaching Artist Katie Knutson has been using this technique to help students writing original fables, pourquoi stories, and fractured fairy tales. She has recently started using it to write her own personal and historical pieces, and loves the results!
