Artist Standing Strong Together, Inc. and Story Crossroads, Inc. celebrate the #Dunbar150 of the poet, author, and storyteller, Paul Laurence Dunbar, 1872-1906 of Dayton, Ohio. Son of ex-enslaved Africans in America, Dunbar rose to international acclaim having written more novels, plays, and poetry than any other African American before 1950. As The Father of the Spoken Word Movement, his short stories and poetry crossed the color line.
Come join in and support the latest “Dunbarians” present in the northern and southern styles of his most beloved storytelling poetry. Hosted by Oni Lasana, hailed as “The Voice of Dunbar” by Professor Nikki Giovanni, Oni’s love of Dunbar was shared weekly and will be performed by international and national artists as they present the works of America’s Shakespear and our own literary humanitarian, Paul Laurence Dunbar!
