Su Ciampa

Su Ciampa is a storyteller, writer and librarian based in the Adirondack region of New York. She tells stories with emotional high stakes and low brow humor, unabashedly exploring Things We’re Not Supposed To Talk About.

Su’s first personal essay was published in Seventeen at age 17, thanks in large part to her learning how to submit stories to magazines from Anne Shirley. She went on to write essays, cultural think pieces and profiles of fame-ish people for magazines and websites that by and large no longer exist. In 2017, after a long creatively fallow period, Su stumbled into live storytelling as a dynamic and communal way to share personal narratives.

Su is the first recipient of Northeast Storytelling’s Librarian scholarship for their Sharing the Fire conference. She has told stories at Northeast Public Radio's Howl Story Slam, MopCo Improv Theatre's Dare to Be Human show, the Front Parlor series in Troy, NY, Moth Story Slams in NYC, and the comedy open mic at Q.E.D. in Astoria, Queens.
Su has been a featured teller for Storytelling Night at Caffe Lena, the iconic folk venue in Saratoga Springs, NY, and she can often be heard trying out new material at their open mics.
