Nicolette Nordin Heavey has been a professional storyteller and teaching artist for over 15 years. She lived a storied childhood living and travelling in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Characters inspired by her international upbringing spring to life in her re-telling of folktales and personal stories. Her stories are ripe with themes that add to community telling.
Nicolette's interactive telling for the very young, Stories at Play, makes her a favorite and a monthly regular at childcare centers such as Bright Horizons Family Solutions and The Goddard School. Additionally, Nicolette is an artist in residence at schools in Andover and Lawrence, Massachusetts.
In 2012 she founded a program called Stories in the Streets, a literacy outreach program that brings storytellers to public venues primarily in at-risk communities. This program meets the needs of the Board of Education's Coordinated Family and Community Engagement grant promoting early literacy development.
