Word Plays: Coincidence
Event Website: http://www.storycircleatproctors.org/word-plays.shtml Event Phone: 5183834620 Event Contact Email: kate@katedudding.com At Word Plays, you'll hear stories celebrating the human spirit. The definition of coincidence is: the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident, but seem to have some connection. Some people say that a coincidence is a signal from the universe to guide us. In any case, coincidences are always amazing. No matter how you view coincidence, come listen to stories about coincidence (personal, traditional and historical) told by: Siri Allison, Alden (Joe) Doolittle, Kate Dudding, Marni Gillard, Christie Keegan and Beverly Schwartz. If you're one of those people who lingers in your car long after reaching a destination just to hear the end of Garrison Keillor's "The News from Lake Wobegon" or Ira Glass on "This American Life," then Word Plays may be for you. Many performers will be telling during this season. At each Word Play, a different group of performers tell rarely heard contemporary and traditional stories about celebrating the human spirit. You will discover that Word Plays is a shared experience between the audience and the performer, combining the intensity of a solo performer with the intimacy of a face-to-face conversation. Each show has its own theme where each story told relates to that theme. All but one of the storytellers include carefully crafted, subtle little lies into their story. In Act 2, the audience gets to question the storytellers—who can improvise their responses—and then the audience votes for the person they think was telling the whole truth. The show also includes improvised, story-inspired music and songs written for the show by host/creator Jude Treder-Wolff. Plus, attendees may win a prize—oh, what a night!
