Virtual Intensive

Listening Between the Lines: Deepening How We Hear Hard Stories

Presented by Nancy Donoval

An interactive presentation using storytelling concepts to strengthen listening skills, particularly when listening to difficult or trauma-based stories. Understanding how to be story wise when listening, and not just when telling, is part of being a responsible story practitioner. Deep, empathetic listening is essential to resolving conflicts, finding common ground, connecting across cultural divides, and being effective in the healing arts.

Virtual Workshop

Body, Face, and Voice: Physical Technique in Storytelling

Presented by Karin Amano

Japanese Actor/storyteller/theme park performer Karin Amano creates an interactive workshop where we will explore: how to grab the audience’s attention and keep them engaged, facial expressions, playing multiple characters using the Japanese Rakugo technique changing voices, and making gestures. She will also talk about how to use the computer screen effectively for virtual performances.
