Each of us operates inside our own system of references, assumptions and expectations. But often it doesn’t occur to us that there could be any other way to understand the world besides our own bubble…Until, bang! We discover that someone else has a different bubble for viewing the world as we think it is, or should be. What happens when our perception of even a small bit of life changes? OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring. Admission is free, although donations are deeply appreciated and help support our programming. Your tax-deductible donation can be made here: https://square.link/u/d9xbGN2I We’ll gather via Zoom. Here is the NEW link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84757183292?pwd=WENjdm53c3hRb0owQmZuK045M0FKQT09 About our Hosts for June 26th Carol Ribner M.A., M.Ed. started attending 1001 Friday Nights of Storytelling open mic in Toronto in 2016. She has become a regular teller at 1001 Friday Nights, telling personal stories often about her scientist father. She has also told at the Toronto Storytelling Festival, and has been a feature teller at StorySpace. Along with another Toronto storyteller, Carol produces the storytelling project “Her Voice Returns” which offers on-line storytelling concerts focusing on women’s experiences and the “Feminine Principle.” This project donates one third of the income from ticket sales to “The Canadian Women’s Foundation” which supports the wellbeing of women and girls across Canada. Penny Post has a BA in English from Wellesley College, and an MFA in creative writing from Lesley College. For 30 years she told stories and gave workshops in the business world all over southern California through Toastmasters, coaching clients in both speaking and writing. Her day job was technical writing. In 2007, she came home to New England, earned an MFA, and now teaches storytelling at her senior residence community. She is a member of both the Healing Story Alliance programming Committee and the HSA Advisory Committee.
