Link to Event: contact event organizer- Gert Johnson. grsjohnson@aol.com or call hjer at 518 374-0637 Event Website: interfaithstorycircle.org Event Phone: 518 374-0637 Event Contact Email: grsjohnson@aol.org AN INVITATION TO HELP BUILD INTERFAITH STORY CONNECTIONS Are you a storyteller looking to reach interfaith communities? Are you part of an interfaith group or looking to connect with interfaith organizations? Does your work touch members of various faith traditions? ( If so, see participation information at the end of this email) For decades, we at the Interfaith Story Circle of Albany/Schenectady/Troy, NY (interfaithstorycircle.org) and the Dutchess County Interfaith Council Story Circle (Dutchess County, NY in the nearby Hudson Valley) have gathered people in monthly story circles to share stories from their various faith traditions and personal lives. During the pandemic both our groups held story circles through Zoom to uplift people’s spirits and stay connected. On several occasions we combined forces and held joint story circles. There were times when we hosted guest tellers or circle participants from other states and even continents. We realize that connecting through Zoom offers us an amazing opportunity to reach beyond our local communities and create an online network of people building cultural and spiritual bridges through the power of story. We are partnering with ASST (Artists Standing Strong Together https://www.artistsstandingstrongtogether.net) and are seeking other organizations and individuals who wish to join us in creating such a network built on the power of story. To read our draft vision statement, please go to interfaithstorycircle.org and scroll down to the link in the 3rd paragraph of the home page. If you would like to hear more about our ideas and share yours, please join us for a conversation. We will be holding a Zoom session on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 7:30- 9.00 p.m. EST. To register for our January 23rd zoom conversation, please contact Gert Johnson. grsjohnson@aol.com (518)374-0637 Founder of Interfaith Story Circle (Capital Region of NY) interfaithstorycircle.org Co-Founder of Children at the Well Youth Storytellers childrenatthewell.org Current Co-Chair of IFSC, a program of With Our Voice https://www.WithOurVoice.org

OARS in the Water: Synchronicity
OARS in the Water Jan 11th 7:00pm-8:30pm EST Hosted by Galen Brandt & Jackson Gillman Theme: Synchronicity What do you make of it when the stars -- or whatever -- align, and you can’t help but wonder....is this more than a coincidence? OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring. Admission is free, although donations are deeply appreciated and help support our programming. Your tax deductible donation can be made here: https://square.link/u/d9xbGN2I We’ll gather via Zoom. Word Plays: Coincidence
Event Website: http://www.storycircleatproctors.org/word-plays.shtml Event Phone: 5183834620 Event Contact Email: kate@katedudding.com At Word Plays, you'll hear stories celebrating the human spirit. The definition of coincidence is: the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident, but seem to have some connection. Some people say that a coincidence is a signal from the universe to guide us. In any case, coincidences are always amazing. No matter how you view coincidence, come listen to stories about coincidence (personal, traditional and historical) told by: Siri Allison, Alden (Joe) Doolittle, Kate Dudding, Marni Gillard, Christie Keegan and Beverly Schwartz. If you're one of those people who lingers in your car long after reaching a destination just to hear the end of Garrison Keillor's "The News from Lake Wobegon" or Ira Glass on "This American Life," then Word Plays may be for you. Many performers will be telling during this season. At each Word Play, a different group of performers tell rarely heard contemporary and traditional stories about celebrating the human spirit. You will discover that Word Plays is a shared experience between the audience and the performer, combining the intensity of a solo performer with the intimacy of a face-to-face conversation. Each show has its own theme where each story told relates to that theme.
