As a writer and performer Baden engages reader and audience with a style that is warm, self-assured and displays an entertaining blend of insight and humour. His own performance credits include Writer-in-Residence at the London Borough of Havering's Library Service. He has worked extensively in schools and community settings all over the country as a workshop facilitator for organisations such as Apples & Snakes, Hackney Learning Trust and Spread the Word, on projects as diverse as the London Schools Poetry Slam, Linklaters Reading and Writing Challenge and New London Orchestra’s Music & Literacy Project. Storytelling Workshop: Spotlight on You

Class size is limited so all students will be given the opportunity to write, share at least one story, and receive critical feedback. You must register in advance to be given access code. Next Online Workshops: November 12, 2023 at 1:30pm, led by Jessica Robinson January 7, 2024 at 1:30pm, led by Jessica Robinson February 17, 2024 at 2:00pm, led by Jack Scheer PLEASE NOTE: Workshops are on Zoom. Class sizes are limited to no more than 8 registrants so that each attendee will have time to share a story and receive critical feedback. STORYTELLERS Robin Bady is a narrative artist working nationally and internationally,developing performances and story projects. She performs at spoken word venues, fringes, theaters, and storytelling festivals.Her children’s shows are featured at major museums, schools, libraries. Robin’s solo show – Nancy Drewinsky and the Search for the Missing Letter – a story of McCarthyism and anti-Semitism – tours fringe festivals and theaters. Robin hosts the BADYHouse Storytelling Concert series in Brooklyn; she also created No, We Won’t Shut Up!, a powerful project showcasing the voices of a diverse group of women speaking out. She has told ghost stories since she saw her first ghost. Sarah Brady is a storyteller and teaching artist who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in speech education and a Master of Arts degree in interpretative speech. Prior to becoming a professional storyteller, she taught communication and theatre at Hampton University. She has told stories at a variety of venues in both the United Kingdom and the United States, working with such entities as Story Tapestries; Arts for Learning–Virginia; Cambridge Storytellers; Epic Tales; the Suffolk Archives; the White Rose Project; and the International Storytelling Centerl. For the purposes of this bio, she is three decades into a storytelling career that has taken her to four continents and from sea to shining sea. With her husband, whose name is (aptly) Jack, she co-produces the Rose Valley Storytelling House Concerts series, now in its 8th season. When she’s not working on new stories, she’s making art from things most other people throw away. Better Said Than Done Founder Jessica Robinson has performed at the International Storytelling Festival, on PBS’ “Stories from the Stage,” for the Queens Theater, First Person Arts Festival, Mostly True Things, The Story Space, Bridgeport Pechakucha, at 2 National Storytelling Network(NSN) Conferences, and the Forest Storytelling Festival. She’s shared stories on the Bonkers Brit, Full Spirals, and Funny Parents Podcasts. Jessica was a Featured Teller at the Stone Soup, the Washington Folk, the Women’s, the Allegheny, the Florida, and the Hampton Storytelling Festivals. Jessica is a 2023 ORACLE Recipient.

Lloyd Theme: Memory: Friend or Foe? Memory teases the mind the way fool’s gold tricks the eye. The stories we tell ourselves may be other than what occurred. Yet our own version is still true for us, in how we felt at the time and how we remember it. Let’s explore ways to revisit memories that can lead to healing. About Our Hosts for Oct. 25th Penny Post has a BA in English from Wellesley College, and an MFA in creative writing from Lesley College. For 30 years she told stories and gave workshops in the business world all over southern California through Toastmasters, coaching clients in both speaking and writing. Her day job was technical writing. In 2007 she came home to New England, picked up the MFA, and now teaches storytelling at her senior residence community. She is a member of both the Healing Story Alliance programming Committee and the HSA Advisory Committee. Angela Lloyd, MFA is an award-winning storyteller, musician, and teaching artist. She is matchmaker of spoken word and music. A virtuosa on washboard, with autoharp, ukulele, spoon and bell, Angela’s performances are a whimsical braid of poetry, story and song. An eclectic repertoire showcases her unique style and timing. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting, is Bilingual in Spanish and English and has coached PreK- 6 students, PreK and elementary school educators, amateur and professional storytellers for the past 26 years. OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring. Admission is free, although donations are deeply appreciated and help support our programming.
